Developing a Witness Mindset
No matter where you sit politically or ideologically, you have likely felt the frenzied energy of action that our country has been experiencing since January 20th. So many people I have talked to are feeling overwhelmed. That’s not surprising. A new administration is wiping away the actions, resolutions, and protections that previous administrations have felt were required to run our democratic republic. In the last three weeks, this has been happening at a pace that no nervous system (no matter how evolved) could hold all the pieces together. This is a perfect time for a witnessing mindset to interrupt the dysregulation.
History is Repeating Itself - But We Refuse to Be Erased
For transgender and nonbinary youth, access to this care is not just a matter of survival—it is the foundation for a life filled with dignity, possibility, and joy, clearing the way to step into their truth and thrive. We are now living under an administration that has launched an all-out assault on trans youth, weaponizing policies and funding to strip their rights and therefore, the very ability to exist safely in this country. But at the end of the day, this is not just about healthcare—it is part of a much larger, coordinated effort, anchored as all oppressive tactics are, in white supremacy.
